HYDERABAD, Sept 18: Crop management committees will be formed to monitor various crops at different stages for solving farmers’ problems and achieving production targets.

This was said by the newly-appointed secretary for agriculture, Sabhago Khan Jatoi, while presiding over his first meeting with field officers of the agriculture department in Karachi on Thursday.

He said the Sindh agriculture minister would head the committees and supervise crop management activities. He said agriculture officers would also visit fields regularly.

Mr Jatoi said an awareness programme would be launched through electronic media so that farmers could get knowledge about improved farming techniques.

He said more importance would be given to the improvement of agriculture research and training institutes.

COMMITTEE: Hyderabad Development Authority director general Ali Ahmad Lund on Thursday appointed a two-member committee to identify problems confronted the residents of union council-17, City taluka, and submit a report for early resolution of the problems.

He appointed the committee, comprising the UC Nazim and the executive engineer, after visiting the union council on the complaint of the people about accumulation of dirty water in the area.

He was accompanied by UC-17 Nazim Mohammad Ali Gohar, Wasa managing director Tahir Ahmad, project director Qurban Ali Shah Bukhari and executive engineer Faheem Ahmad Junejo.
