RAWALPINDI, Sept 17: District and Sessions Judge Dost Mohammad Khemta has redistributed the charge of all the police stations in the district to 21 judicial officers to ensure speedy dispensation of cases, sources told Dawn on Wednesday.
The sources said Mr Khemta had also issued directives in this regard to the district police officer (DPO), station house officers (SHOs) and the president of district bar association.
According to the sources, in Rawalpindi district courts, senior civil judge and judicial magistrate Zubair Aziz Cheema has been given the charge of Cantonment police station, while civil judge and judicial magistrate Mohammad Javedul Hasan Chishti will deal the cases taking place in the jurisdiction of Ganjmandi police station.
Similarly, cases occurring in the limits of Sadiqabad and Bani police stations will be referred to civil judge Hidayatullah Shah, and civil judge and judicial magistrate Nadeem Shaukat, respectively.
Likewise, civil judge and judicial magistrate Mehar Mohammad Iqbal Kharal will deal with the cases of FIA Passport Cell and Airport police station, they added.
The sources said civil judge and judicial magistrate Suleman Ghumman would hear the cases related to Chauntra police station, while civil judge Iftikharun Nabi would receive the cases filed at Westridge and City police stations.
The cases of women police station will now be dealt by civil judge and magistrate Ambreen Qureshi, while officials of Rawat and Saddar Bairooni police stations would refer their cases to civil judge and magistrate Azfar Sultan and civil judge Hasnain Azhar Shah, respectively.
