LAHORE: Security forces in Lahore arrested three terrorists from the banned outfit Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) after conducting operations on Friday, DawnNews reported.

Sources said the militants were arrested in Batapur, close to the Wagah border. A large contingency of security forces participated in the operation.

The three men have been named as Qari Mushtaq, Asim Umar and Jameel Muawiya, the sources said.

The arrested men are said to be associated with the terrorist group and have been moved to an undisclosed location for further interrogation.

Since the terrorist attack on an Army Public School in Peshawar last month, there has been a crackdown against banned organisations in the country, with several terrorists being arrested.

LeJ has has forged ties to Al-Qaeda and the Taliban in a murderous campaign to wage sectarian warfare.

Since its inception in 1996 by a religious extremist, the faction has claimed to have killed thousands of people in bombings and shootings across Pakistan.
