AS a people we do not really care much about animals. We tend to forget that they have souls and also have rights and need affection and care.

We are beginning to see an increasingly number of homeless dogs and cats as many of our countrymen are not fond of keeping pets. It is all the more painful to see children teasing these poor animals and making their pathetic lives all the more miserable.

Millions of them died in car accidents, many died from hunger and many died due to natural hazards such as rainfall, cold climate etc but we never feel pain of those homeless souls. If we talk about Pakistan, it contains a large number of homeless animals. We often find some animals dead on highways and roads and they all are dead due to their miserable conditions. People leave their cats on roads so that they won’t return to their so-called houses. Children used to throw stones at dogs or cats that are passing by, we never allow them to live in our houses, we never give them shelter and we are responsible for what they are going by. I know we can’t keep dogs or cats in our homes but please think like a human, do something for creatures.

I request all grown-ups to think for a moment and ask themselves whether they would like to be beaten and kicked for no reason, or die of hunger. I feel the authorities should construct animal care shelters centres to tend to stray animals.
