GUJRANWALA, Dec 21: Truckers blocked the Hafizabad Road near Qila Dedar Singh on Friday following manhandling of a truck crew by police.

Reportedly, some policemen set up a picket on the Hafizabad Road and started receiving ‘toll tax’ from transporters. When a truck driver, Badar Bakhat, refused to pay the same, they manhandled him.

Later, truck drivers blocked the road by parking their vehicles on it.

Senior police officers reached the spot and restored traffic after giving an assurance to truck drivers that stern action would be taken against the policemen concerned.

MAN KILLS SISTER: A man killed his sister allegedly for her bad character in Qila Dedar Singh here on Friday.

Shahnaz Bibi was married to Shafiq of Mianwali. She shifted with her parents after a scuffle with her husband a few months ago and reportedly developed relations with a youth of the area.

She was asleep when her brother, Anwar, stabbed her to death.

Tanvir was shot dead allegedly by his rival, Aslam, in Papnakh village.

ARREST WARRANTS: The Banking Court No 1, Gujranwala, on Friday issued arrest warrants for more than 15 heavyweight defaulters of Gujranwala, Sialkot and Hafizabad.

The judge ordered the police authorities to arrest the defaulters and produce them before the court on next hearing.
