One person killed in Sariab road blast

QUETTA: A blast has killed one person in Quetta's Sariab road area on Monday night, police said.

Imran Qureshi, the Superintendent of Police Sariab told Dawn.com that the explosion happened in Musa Colony, close to the railway track. He said the nature of the blast was yet to be confirmed.

"The blast has severely damaged the dead person’s face," Qureshi said, adding that the body has been shifted to civil hospital Quetta for identification.

Police and Frontier Corps personnel reached the spot and have started an investigation into the incident.

Armed militants kidnap four in Zhob‏ district

Meanwhile, militants kidnapped four people in Balochisan's Zhob district on Monday, officials said.

Security officials said that armed men picked up four people while they were coming from Islamabad to Quetta near Zhob.

The kidnapped people were yet to be identified. Frontier Corps and Levies launched a search operation in the area to ensure their recovery.

The incident came a day after militants kidnapped five people from the same area. Four of them were identified as government officials, sources said.

The Zhob route from Quetta to Islamabad is frequently used by people and incidents of kidnappings have increased in the recent past.

The number of kidnapped people in Zhob over the past twenty hours has now risen to nine.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the kidnapping; however security officials stated that suspicion falls of TTP militants operating in the area.
