KARACHI: The New Year Cup that tops a five-race card marks the start of 2015 Gymkhana racing season at the Karachi Racecourse on Saturday.

The meeting is being held a day earlier this week as 12th Rabi-ul-Awal, Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) falls on Sunday.

Nine horses are set to vie for honours in the New Year Cup, the fourth race on card, to be run over a distance of five-and-a-half furlongs.

Altogether, 40 horses will contest in five races of the day barring last minute withdrawal.

According to schedule, the first race starts at 1.30pm.
