SHEIKHUPURA, Sept 14: District Nazim Tawakalullah Virk said on Saturday although the district council had opposed the posting of a female executive district education officer here, the department had yet to think on these lines.

At a press conference, the Nazim said former EDO (education) Dr Pervaiz, a foreign qualified educationist, was performing his duty well, but the education department replaced him with Mrs Zahida without any cogent reasons.

A female EDO, he said, could not control all the institutions because many of these had been located in far-flung areas. He also said that matters of annual budget and monitoring of major development works required stamina and will power, as an EDO had to stay away from home sometimes.

The Nazim demanded the chief secretary, secretary local government and secretary education to post the former EDO back here.
