ISLAMABAD, Dec 21: A senior official of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has been suspended for not obeying the orders of the army monitoring team (AMT), a source from the Authority told Dawn.

A verbal clash between a deputy director, Kutcha Abadis, Shafique Ahmed, and AMT’s Maj Sattar led to the CDA official’s suspension, the source said.

He said the issue of allotment of a plot at Alipur Farash to a serving army major, an under-developed low income housing scheme, was the bone of contention.

During a meeting held last week at the CDA office, the AMT official directed Mr Ahmed to include the name of the major in the list of those to be allotted a plot in the housing scheme.

The deputy director said he had already included the names of over 50 illegible persons in the list on the instruction of the AMT, therefore, he could not make anymore additions, the source added.

At this, Maj Sattar asked Mr Ahmed to leave the room, which led to a heated dispute between the two officials.

The incident was immediately reported to the in charge of the District Army Monitoring Team (DAMT), Brig Liaquat, who rushed to the office of the CDA chairman to express his concern. On the complaint of the army official, the CDA administration suspended him on Friday.
