DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Sept 12: All the offices of education department and schools remained closed here on Friday in protest against the manhandling of the EDO Education at the hands of district Nazim.

Both district Nazim Latifullah Khan Alizai and EDO (Education) Abdur Rahim have lodged FIRs against each other with the Cantonment police station.

According to reports, both of them had traded hot words here on Thursday over the inauguration of a newly-constructed block in the government high school, Paharpur.

Union council Nazim Paharpur Haji Amanullah wanted to inaugurate the newly-built block located in the limits of his UC, while the EDO Education was willing to get it opened by a local MMA leader.

It is reported that the district Nazim called EDO at his office and told him not to indulge in “dirty politics” which resulted in a scuffle between them.

It is further reported that district president PPP Shaista Khan Baloch, a few union Nazims and official gunman of the district Nazim were present on the occasion who manhandled the education officer.

It was gathered that the officer later went to the residence of MMA’s secretary-general Maulana Fazlur Rehman to narrate the incident but he had left for Peshawar at that time. However, he informed the Maulana of this episode on telephone upon which he assured that he would talk to the chief minister in this regard.

The education department observed a complete strike here on Friday as all schools and education offices remained closed in protest against the incident.

EDO Abdur Rahim has lodged FIR against district Nazim Latifullah Alizai, PPP district president Shaista Baloch, gunman of district Nazim constable Ghulam Muhammad and a few UC Nazims with the cantonment police.
