QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch has said that after the 18th amendment the country has become a genuine federation and that any blame game over the problems faced by his province is baseless.

Speaking on Wednesday at a ceremony marking the launch of a book, which was organised by the Chief Minister’s Reforms Unit, Dr Baloch said that since the passage of the 18th amendment the federal government had released all funds allocated for the province and had honoured all its commitments in accordance with the requirements of the amendment.

“Now there is no reason for any blame game against Islamabad over the problems of Balochistan because after the 18th amendment all provinces have been made more autonomous and provided the required resources,” the chief minister said. “Now the country has become a genuine federation.”

He said the Balochistan government and its political leadership would fully defend the 18th amendment and would not allow anyone to change it.

Referring to the law and order situation in his province, Dr Baloch said there was considerable improvement.

Well-known economist Kaiser Bengali and his team had been assigned the task to form a comprehensive plan for the progress and prosperity of the province, he said.

The provincial government, he said, would undertake legislative work in the light of the 18th amendment to put the province on the path to development.
