RAWALPINDI, Sept 11: As many as 0.6 million people have been registered with the Personnel Identification Secure and Comparison Evaluation System (PISCES) to check illegal immigration.

This was disclosed by FIA Director-General Syed Mohib Asad while inaugurating “women counters” at Islamabad International Airport on Thursday. The counters have been set up to facilitate the overseas Pakistani women travelling alone.

Mr Asad said the airports have been linked through this system so far. He said in the first phase the system would be installed at Port Qasim, Karachi Port Trust and Ghass Bander, while in the second phase the system would be installed at Sust, Torkham, Mander and along the Iranian border. Turbat and Gwadar will be interconnected in the third phase, he added. The DG FIA also reviewed the security arrangements at the airport on the directive of Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali.

To a question, Mr Asad said there was dire need to install latest passport checking system to discourage human smuggling. He said 60 women recruited by the FIA last year were performing well.—Staff Reporter
