KARACHI: The Karachi Tax Bar Association (KTBA) has asked the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to exclude the tax cases erroneously selected by the auto system for audit.

In a communication with FBR high-ups, KTBA President Syed Wasim Hashmi pointed out that even tax cases which had been excluded from audit were selected through computer balloting by the Pakistan Revenue Automation Ltd (PRAL).

He said that as per FBR’s tax audit policy 2014, a large number of cases were excluded from audit through random computer ballot, including those filed under final tax regime (FTR), taxable income from salary, taxable income from house property, taxable income from share from Association of Persons (AoP), etc.

However, many such cases were selected when the computer balloting took place. The KTBA chief asked the FBR to authorise the chief commissioners to exclude such cases from audit and drop the proceedings.
