PML-N MNA Aijaz Chaudhry joins PTI

ISLAMABAD: A day before PTI's public meeting in the federal capital, Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz lawmaker Aijaz Chaudhry announced that he was joining Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI).

"I have decided to resign from the seat in the National Assembly," Chaudhry said on Saturday, adding that he was joining Imran Khan's "fight against corruption".

Chaudhry made the announcement at a press briefing during which he was flanked by PTI Chairman Imran Khan and other members of his party.

Chaudhry was elected from NA-108 Mandi Bahauddin constituency in the May 2013 general election.

Speaking to Dawn after his press conference, Chaudhry said he had handed his resignation from the National Assembly to Khan as a gesture to show his decision of leaving PML-N.

Chaudhry also stated that his constituency had hopes from the PML-N government in relation to developmental work for the benefit of the locals. However, the top leadership of the party had refused to help him in this regard, Chaudhry claimed, adding that the party's top brass did not provide any support for the betterment of Mandi Bahauddin.

Chaudhry will be present at the November 30 rally alongside Imran Khan.

The defection comes as PTI has been holding an anti-government sit-in Islamabad since August 14 along with public meetings in major cities across Pakistan in protest of what it calls "massive rigging" in the May 2013 general election.

There are many from other parties who want to join PTI but it would only allow people with a clean history. People in PMLN are fed up with the policies of the small lot in the government. I won't be surprised if a forward bloc emerges in PMLN.

Yes a stay order which the Kaptaan so vehemently abhors. Chaudhry Ijaz's stay order was on the verge of being revoked and PML-N had decided against giving the ticket again for by-elections in Mandibahuddin. Go figure as to why he left PML-N. Thank you PTI for scavenging on the garbage of PML-N

i am from mandi bahuddin and i know this MNA . This man has long history of changing parties first time he was elected from PPP's ticket then from PML Q then he joined PMLN and then in the 2013 PMLN didn't gave him ticket so he decided as a AZAAD ... and after winning he again joined the PMLN ... now when he saw the hype of PTI ... he has jumped again .... best of luck to PTI .... bringing this type of change

Aijaz Ahmed Chaudhry was never PMLN's candidate in any of the elections. He contested the 2013 (and earlier in 2008) elections independently. PMLN's candidate in 2013 elections was Mumtaz Tarrar Source: http://www.brecorder.com/Elections2013/12-PML-N-candidates.html Aijaz Ahmed Chaudhry won independently and joined PMLN Government. He was disqualified by the Court on account of Fake degree. That is why PMLN abandoned him. It is surprising that Imran Khan has picked up a fake degreeholder. Saaf Challi, Shafaf Challi :)

It is the conscious that got better of Aijaz Choudhry in dropping support of ruling class to join PTI which is commendable with hope of more breaking the shackles of both PMLN and PPP to join the righteous. It will come as no surprise if police known for its brutality in Punjab follow Choudhry in refusing to be subservient to Nawaz. The timing of Aijaz Choudhry could not have come at a better time when Imran is in overdrive to tear apart a Government mired in fraud and corruption.

He started his political career by polishing boots of Musharraf (PMLQ), then independent, and then he saw that PMLN is going to make government, he joined PMLN and now when PTI is popular he switches to PTI. Term `Lota` describes him at best. My question is, how is he different from traditional politicians?

I believe when Imran is in power and is prime minister, he can control others and enforce his policies, just as he has already proven that Pakhtoonkhwa is moving in the right direction.

Funny how people keep downplaying IK. Ok I can agree maybe IK is risky and inexperienced but what do you want? You want to keep voting for NS and AZ. Those two have given you proof of TWO DECADES of lies and theft. IK has built hospitals and schools with his own money. NS and AZ can't even do that with YOUR money. He is going to loose his seat in any way due to his case in courts for fake degree. PMLN already refused to help him in this case so he take benefit to join PTI. He must be a big landlord who win independently and then join PMLN. Congratulations PTI to accept one more lota in its ranks who travelled from Mush to PMLQ, then independent, then PMLN and now PTI. We Pakistani know PTI is built up of such lotas and fasli bateras and therefore do not take it serios. It is good to watch live music shows and fashion show- Keep it up IK, we will attend all your shows, but our vote is for the parties who do some work for the country, for the people of country and not for enemies of Pakistan.

Good move to join PTI by those ex-Sharif supporters who are sick and tired of dirty corruption growing like a cancer not only in PML-N groups, it's also rampant in PPP. It looks like many more former party members from PML-N and PPP will join PTI, like sailors jumping off of a sinking ship to save whatever they can of a nation and its people who deserve honest, high principled leaders like in PTI.
