PESHAWAR: Three children were killed and two other members of the family injured when an artillery shell hit a house in Dattakhel area of North Waziristan Agency on Thursday.

Sources said the incident took place in Mama Ziarat region near the border with Afghanistan. The injured included a man and a woman.

As happened in Miramshah and Mirali, civilians have not been evacuated from Dattakhel when security forces launched Operation Zarb-i-Azb in North Waziristan in June.

According to reports, a curfew was imposed in Dattakhel Bazaar on Wednesday for an indefinite period.
