Fawad Khan wins 'Best Bollywood Debut' at Masala Awards 2014

It's double celebration time for the handsome Fawad Khan!

The royal Yuvraj Vikram Singh Rathore of Khoobsurat has won the 'Best Bollywood Debut' at the Masala Awards 2014, which took place at Madinat Jumeira in Dubai on November 28 (yesterday).

And not only that, it's also his birthday today!

Pakistani actor Humaima Malick was also representing Pakistan at the Awards and performed on songs, "Tere hoke rahenge" and "Namak pare", from her Bollywood film, Raja Natwarlal.

Fawad's body of work has proved how multi-talented he is. From his singing days as part of the band Entity Paradigm to his landmark role in Khuda Kay Liye, he has always been a heartthrob.

The 33-year-old is a constant source of pride for Pakistan and has gone across the border and won the hearts of millions of Indians.

He was first seen on Indian television when his hit television serial, Zindagi Gulzar Hai aired on Zee Network's Zindagi channel, followed by Humsafar. Both shows received immense critical acclaim and became fan favourites.

Fans took to Twitter to congratulate Fawad on winning the award and also to wish him a happy birthday. #HappyBirthdayFawadKhan started trending minutes past midnight:

I (and many Indians) like Pakistani musicians better than Pakistani actors..Virtually all songs sung by Atif Aslam, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Adnan Sami were super massive hits. Atif Aslam is easily one of the best Bollywood singers of this era. Also, Pakistan's Coke studio has had some very nice performances by some folk musicians till date.

@Jatin Pakistan doesn't have any film industry right now. Although, there are some promising lads currently working towards its betterment, yet it is still a long way for these film makers, distributors, producers, media houses, technicians, artists, admen, budding directors, veterans, cinema/multiplex owners, TV bigwigs and many others to form a body that we can truly call 'film industry'. But make no mistake: this is no pessimism. It is only being pointed out for Pakistanis are notorious for infighting among themselves, a case in point: 'ARY & Jang/Geo Group's recent rivalry'. Films can also have a similar fate in Pakistan if the real stakeholders don't pay heed and work towards creating an industry rather than working as individuals.

@Jatin the reason Pakistanis are sought after is because of their good looks and good acting. By bringing Indian actors, our own industry will go down to Indian level. Besides, Pakistanis are different people with different looks. They won't understand say a Tamil looking guy in a pakistani movie. We are ok with our talent uplifting your industry.

@Jatin Kiran kher perform in a Pakistani movie Silent Waters (2003) though it was not permitted in Pakistani cinema. Then in another film Naseer uddin Shah had a big role as religious scholar.

The name itself Masala Awards sounds funny, though Fawad Khan is a capable artist. He has still to go many miles before he comes out of the module of a family setting drama serials to develope histrionics to really become a versatile one.

You all watch hindi movie with indian actors since 1950s, watch hindi tv at your homes, have indian actors with billboards on your ads! listen to hindi songs on weddings, parties. While the reverse is not true. Your artists die to make a presence in india and make money. You have 1 or 2 artists recent that have made big due to india large heartednes, that's the reality.

As an Indian movie watcher, i find Ali Zafar much much better actor and singer and good looking than Fawad Khan who is not a looker at all and also he is very short. I dont find anything in Fawad that is so sensational. Zafar is far better looking and what more multi-talented. He will make it bigger in Indian film industry. All in all, there is no better looker in Bollywood than Hrithik Roshan or Akshay Kumar or Ranbir Kapoor who are all sensational lookers and also damn good actors with great physique too.

Tamil film industry also as big as bollywood.. Telugu, bengali industry also much bigger than pakistani... so it is good paki r coming .. but dont underestimate indians

The Indian media, which obsessively are preoccupied covering every cheap Bollywood sham award,finally appeared to have found an award show that isn't worth a mention. Never heard of Masala award and I have a feeling it is unlikely I will hear again unless Fawad wins another one and I happen to read Dawn.
