Procedure to amass GP Fund

Published September 10, 2003

LAHORE, Sept 9: The accountant general, Punjab, is devising a procedure under which GP Fund of government employees deducted and deposited in various districts during their posting there will be transferred to the district of his new posting.

According to Punjab Accountant General Wazir Qureshi, GP Fund worth millions of rupees of thousands of state employees were lying in various districts which were accumulated in one account only at the time of retirement or any other requirement.

In the first phase, those employees who were likely to retire within five years would be given the option of accumulating their GP Fund in any one account, he said while chairing a weekly review committee here on Monday.

That would be declared as his ‘Universal Account Number,’ he added.

He said after updating the GP Fund accounts, it was necessary to transfer the amounts deducted under the head to any of their one account.

Directing all those government employees who had reached the age of 55 years and served in various districts during their tenure to get their GP Fund transferred to any one district, he regretted that they were not cooperating with his office in solving even their own problems.
