DEMO: A large number of growers of Johi Taluka held a demonstration in front of the local press club on Tuesday to protest against the officials of the Zarai Taraqiati Bank, Johi.

They were led by Mohammad Aslam Babar, Khalil Ahmed Babar, Nazir Ahmed and Ghulam Mohammad.

Talking to newsmen, Mohammad Aslam Babar said that many growers of Johi Taluka had applied for loan under the one-window operation scheme but the bank officers were not providing them loans because they had refused to pay them commission.

He said that Johi Taluka was facing difficulties due to the recent heavy rains, which had destroyed the agriculture of the Taluka and the growers had no money to purchase seeds and other inputs.

They appealed to President Gen Pervez Musharraf, Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, and the chairman, Zarai Taraqiati Bank, to intervene in the matter and redress their grievances.
