Khalid, Hasan emerge leaders

KARACHI, Sept 8: Hasan Askari-Khalid Mohiuddin are leading after two rounds in Karachi Club (KC) Pair Bridge Championship at KC Bridge Hall Sunday.

Hasan and Khalid headed the qualified bunch of 16 pairs. The final round will be played on Tuesday evening at the same venue.

Leading pair displayed remarkable fighting ability to have a edge over their nearest rival, Bermuda Bowl-bound pair of Rashid Jafer-Sultan Siddiqui.

There was a very encouraging response from the bridge players despite short notice and thirty-six pairs turned up to vie for the event.

Earlier in the pair contest of Karachi Bridge Association 26 pairs contested the weekend Duplicate Bridge programme Asghar Naqvi Iqbal-Abidi Scored 60,30% to win easily from North South direction followed by F.A Naeem- Mushahid 61.30% Abbas Hussain-Kader Sakaria 54.78%

There had been a close finish on the other direction where two pairs, Hasan Sajjad-Javed Rahman and A.K Bhurgari Janbaz Jafri fought a pitched battle for supremacy, and the first named pair managed a hairline edge over the other. —APP
