NAWABSHAH: National Highway project director Ghulam Shabbir Sheikh and his driver were kidnapped from the National Highway's patch near Doulatpur bypass, police said.

Around 10 pm on Friday night, Sheikh was travelling from Karachi to Sukkur with his driver, when the incident took place.

The police found Sheikh’s abandoned Suzuki Cultus near the Qazi Ahmed area.

Speaking to Dawn, DSP District Nawabshah Yar Mohammad Rind said that the kidnapping took place. Rind also stated that police and Rangers were launching a search operation in the area on Saturday morning.

As of yet, no ransom demands have been made.

The stretch of road from Qazi Ahmed to Doulatpur bypass on the highway is notorious for kidnappings. Similar incidents have been reported from this area in the past.
