HYDERABAD, Sept 7: Sindh National Party chairman Amir Bhambhro has criticized the Sindh government for challenging his and 39 other people’s acquittal in the Hyderabad carnage case in the Sindh High Court.

Speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Sunday, he said the sixth additional district judge acquitted him and other accused, including Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party chairman Dr Qadir Magsi, in the case on July 25 but the government later filed an appeal against the verdict.

He accused the Sindh government of double standard, alleging on the one hand the accused in murder cases were being released without trial and others who had been acquitted in a trial were being victimized.

He said by challenging the verdict of the court, the government had expressed no confidence in the institution.

He said the filing of the appeal was politically motivated and it was aimed at sabotaging the struggle of the SNP and other parties against the greater Thal canal and the Kalabagh dam.

Meanwhile, the STPP also criticized the government for filing an the appeal.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, STPP spokesman Muzaffar Kalhoro accused the government of mala fide intentions.
