OKARA, Sept 6: The son of a landlord, who was kidnapped by robbers to get their accomplice released, was recovered on Saturday after a 16-hour-long operation.
The Saddar DSP told newsmen that Aslam of Chak 4-KM was going to a nearby Mari Salahuddin village by his motorcycle when three robbers signalled him to stop. The armed robbers opened fire on him when Aslam did not stop his vehicle. Luckily, Aslam remained unhurt and after some distance he also returned the fire with his pistol.
However, Aslam identified the robbers as Sultan, Riaz and Khari of the same village. He informed the villagers about them who complained to the father of Sultan, but he did not take any notice.
After few hours, villagers managed to catch Sultan and handed him over to Renala Saddar police.
Later, Riaz, Khari and others kidnapped Aasim, the son of Aslam, and demanded the release of Sultan.
The Saddar police informed DPO Kanwar Shahrukh and DIG Tariq Saleem Dogar about the incident, who formed a team headed by Saddar DSP Rana Ahmad, city DSP Rana Mehmoodul Hasan and DSP investigation Younis Butt.
The three DSPs started the operation with the help of trackers which led them to Sohal Singh village in the limits of Sarai Mughal police station, Kasur district.
With dozens of armed police personnel, their superiors held dialogues with the relatives of outlaws for the safe recovery of the abductee.
However, after some 16-hour-long search operation they managed to recover Aasim, who was handed over to his parents.
Renala Saddar police have registered a case against the kidnappers.
