KARACHI: Three suspects were shot dead in an alleged encounter in Lyari on Friday evening, officials said.

They said that the Rangers and police carried out a targeted raid in Rangi Wara, Chakiwara where they were fired upon. The law-enforcers returned fire killing three suspects, said Chakiwara SHO Haq Nawaz.

He identified the deceased as Gul Hasan, Imdad and Sharif.

He alleged that they were involved in killings and other criminal activities and belonged to the Uzair Baloch gang.

However, residents of the area took to the streets and protested against the killing.

They said that they were taken into custody some 15 days back and were killed in a staged encounter.

However, the area SHO denied the allegations.
