TOBA TEK SINGH, Sept 5: Children of the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company staff had to face the wrath of their schoolteachers following the disconnection of power supply to the district education office (secondary) here on Friday.

Reports said the Fesco city sub-division staff severed the electricity connection of the DEO office the other day due to non-payment of dues. To take revenge, the DEO (secondary) ordered the heads of the Government Girls High School No 2 and the Government Boys Model School to punish the children of the Fesco staff. So in both the schools, the children of Fesco employees were forced to stand under the blazing sun for two hours.

Later, the Fesco employees gave a written application to their deputy district manager demanding a legal action against education department officials. They threatened to launch a protest if no action was taken in this regard.

When contacted, the officials of the DEO office termed the allegations baseless. However, they admitted that the children of the Fesco staff were asked to get the power supply restored through their parents.

Meanwhile, a Fesco truck and its driver were taken into custody allegedly by some villagers in Chak 521-GB.

Reports said a line superintendent of Mureedwala Fesco office went to Chak 183-GB to check a meter installed at a tubewell. In the meantime, some villagers of Chak 521-GB, who had reportedly a dispute with Fesco over the laying of electricity wire, took the driver and the truck away to their village. The Fesco informed the police who recovered the driver from the villagers reportedly after 24 hours.

On the other hand, the villagers said they had a dispute with Fesco over the installation of poles. They claimed the driver had come to take away the poles meant for installation in the village, and they had only restricted him from doing so. They said the story of kidnapping was baseless.
