MULTAN, Sept 5: The Multan Electric Power Company has suspended from service three of its officials for negligence that led to a raid on the residence of a district and sessions judge.
A joint raiding team of the military intelligence unit working in Wapda and the surveillance committee of Mepco chief had raided the private residence of judge Khalil Chaudhry in New Abdali Colony on Thursday and found that the house was being powered from a direct source while the meter was out of order.
However, it was found out in a post-raid inquiry conducted by an army officer that the judge had already informed the area officer of the power company about the damage caused to the meter in rain, but no action was taken on the complaint.
When contacted, the area sub-divisional officer confirmed the findings of the inquiry, and said that a meter inspector and two linemen had been suspended in this regard. — Correspondent
