KARACHI: Defence Day Programmes

KARACHI, Sept 5: The Defence of Pakistan Day will be celebrated with simplicity and austerity keeping in view the prevailing flood conditions in Sindh after heavy rains.

The day will start with prayers for Shuhda and solidarity of Pakistan after Fajr prayers.

Inter-services wreath laying ceremony will be held at the Mazar of the Father of the Nation, Quaid-i-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah. Representatives of three services will lay floral wreaths and pay homage to the great Muslim leader.

Cadets of Pakistan Air Force will take guard duties at the Quaid’s Mausoleum. The “Defence Day” was commemorated in Government Degree Science & Commerce College, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Karachi in a befitting manner, adds our staff reporter.

The day’s programmes included national songs and elocution contest in which participants, both teachers and students highlighted the importance of the day. They stressed the need of forging unity in their rank and file and called upon every citizen to work hard and discharge their duty in respective field as only then the country could progress.

College principal Prof Syed Muhammad Waseem underlined the need for national cohesion to fight all aggressions against the country in the spirit of Sept 6, 1965.

He said the martyrs had set a noble example of rare sacrifice in the supreme defence of the motherland.

The principal distributed prizes among students who were adjudged as winners of elocution and national song competition.
