KARACHI, Sept 5: The Doctors’ Library of the Civil Hospital Karachi was inaugurated on Friday afternoon. The opening of the library fulfils a requirement of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council.
The library has been opened with the cooperation of the Patients’ Welfare Association, a well-known humanitarian organization. One of the PWA’s early members, Prof Abdul Bari, will be responsible for the library’s operations.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the principal of the Dow Medical College — Prof Tipu Sultan — said the library’s opening showed that the hospital administration was interested in ‘positive’ projects.
He promised that his medical college would do its utmost to help improve the facilities available at the library. He was of the opinion that a number of computers should be installed at the library.
The CHK’s medical superintendent said the library would remain open from 9am to 9pm, allowing the doctors to consult international and local literature whenever they found time. He informed all those present that in the last couple of years more than 25 developmental projects had been completed at the hospital so far.
He thanked the PWA for helping the hospital fulfil one of the most important requirements of the PMDC.
