ISLAMABAD, Sept 4: Education Minister Zobaida Jalal on Thursday announced that China would award 31 scholarships to the Pakistani students in the field of advanced studies and languages.

She was speaking at the taking over ceremony of 40 computers given by the Chinese government as a gift package at the education ministry.

The education minister said the scholarships would be routed through the ministry of education and their implementation would be started this year. She said the Chinese government was very keen to exchange teachers and students training programmes with the Pakistan government that could be helpful to both the countries to further strengthen cooperation in the education sector.

Zhang Chun Xiang, the ambassador of China to Pakistan, said the Chinese government would soon start an assistance programme with the cooperation of the education ministry. He said China was willing to offer a number of scholarships in different fields for higher studies to the Pakistani students through the education ministry.
