KARACHI, Sept 4: The Vice-Chancellor of Karachi University Prof Dr Zafar Saeed Saifi on Thursday announced that the varsity would not charge any fee from the faculty members with a proven academic record for doing MPhil or PhD.

This he said while speaking to faculty members of the university.

He announced that the varsity was ready to bear all the expenses of composing and printing of their research papers as well as the thesis.

He informed the faculty members that President Gen Pervez Musharraf had allocated Rs7.5 billion for science and technology as well as higher education in the country.

KU VC also assured them of extending every possible help in acquisition of scholarship for higher studies and announced that opportunities will be created for the teachers to conduct study tours within the country.

“KU will bear all the travelling and accommodation expenses of these study tours whereas if a research project of a researcher is accepted to be read at any international conference, the university will also bear its all expenses,” he announced.

On the occasion, he asked the faculty members to attain excellence in science and technology and thus enable the country to make rapid headway.

The VC, urging the teachers to continue to acquire higher education, asked them to pursue MPhil and PhD courses.

He further stated that there would be exchange of teachers from within the country and abroad.—APP/PPI
