KARACHI, Sept 3: The vice-chancellor of Karachi University has constituted an inquiry committee to probe into corruption and irregularities by the officers and employees of the KU examination and enrolment departments.

This was disclosed by a senior KU official on Wednesday. He said the decision to form the inquiry committee was taken after the governor’s Inspection, Inquiry and Implementation Team reported in its findings that officials of the KU exam and enrolment departments were involved in the scandal of illegal admissions to medical colleges in the city.

“The team has substantial proofs and we have already transferred officers and employees alleged to be involved,” he said and added that the KU inquiry committee would also examine the whole system of enrolment.

He said the five-member inquiry committee had also been assigned to suggest ways and means to minimise chances of irregularities and make recommendations to change the whole system to avert any scandal in the future.—PPI
