PESHAWAR, Dec 20: Central leader of Awami National Party (ANP) Haji Ghulam Ahmad Bilour condemning the government’s attitude towards Pakhtoon Ulema said that sighting or not sighting of the moon was the religious scholars’ privilege and the government had no business interfering in the matter.

He expressed these views in connection with the government’s action against the Pakhtoon Ulema regarding the sighting of the Eid moon last Saturday night.

He said that the government’s interference in the matter could lead to dire consequences.

Talking about the Eid, Bilour said that there were two ways of overcoming the problem, either go with Saudi Arabia or leave it to the Ulema. —PPI
