KARACHI, Oct 11: Two police officials and a pedestrian were wounded when a explosive devise was lobbed into a police mobile in Liaquatabad on late Thursday night.

Police said mobile belonging to the Super Market police station was patrolling in the area when it reached near Dakhana Chowrangi two unidentified motorcyclists lobbed a explosive devise into the police mobile from behind and escaped.

Consequently, police officials Basharat Ali, 25, and Yaqeen Ali, 30, were injured and a pedestrian Bahadur, 35, was also wounded from the splinters.

They were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where the three were admitted for treatment.

The SSP Central told Dawn that explosive devise used in the attack was most probably a grenade and not a cracker, as the police mobile was considerably damaged which does not happen in a cracker attack. However, experts from the Bomb Disposal Squad would be in a better position to assess the explosive devise, the SSP maintained.

The two police injured officials were in a stable condition in the hospital, the SSP added.

The pedestrian was also out of danger.
