LAHORE, Sept 2: Arrangements are being finalized for holding a warfare demonstration, an air show and an arms display on Defence Day to be celebrated on Sept 6.
The warfare demonstration and arms display are being arranged at the Fortress Stadium and the air show at the PAF Base. The warfare demonstration and display will be open for public from 9.30 am. to 12.30 pm and again between 3 pm to 6 pm.
Flypast and army aircraft manoeuvres will be the most thrilling part of Defence Day festivities at the Fortress Stadium. Arms and equipment used by infantry, armour, field artillery, air defence, signals, engineers, medical corps and EME will be on display in the arms exhibition.
Corps Commander Lt-Gen Zarrar Azim will host a Defence Day reception at the Defence Services Club, Tufail Road, at 5.30 pm in the honour of serving officer, next of kin of the shuhada and senior retired army officers.
AIR FORCE: Defence Day will be celebrated at the PAF airbases by offering fateha and special prayers for the martyrs of September 1965 war.
Parades will be held at all the PAF bases in the morning. Base Commander Air Commodore Nadeem Anjum will review the parade at the Lahore PAF Base.
Air Vice-Marshal Khalid Chaudhry, Air Officer Commanding Central Air Command, PAF, will lay floral wreath at the grave of the late air chief marshal Mushaf Ali Mir at the Mominpura graveyard.
A ground-to-air show will be held at the PAF Base for the general public from 9.30 am to 5 pm. All the PAF fighter aircraft including F-16, Mirage, F-7P, F-7 PG and A-5 will be on display and perform flying display as well.
An aerial display by ultra light and small aero modelling aircraft will also arranged.
People will be allowed to watch the air display by entering the base through old airport entrance. They have been advised not to bring bags, weapons, tifons and mobile phones while coming to watch the show.
