LAHORE, Sept 2: The District Development Committee on Tuesday approved Rs60 million information technology projects of the City District Government, including the establishment of a geographical information system lab.
The lab will collect satellite images of different parts of the city, including important buildings and historical places, for the CDG data bank and website. The project will be completed at a cost of Rs20 million by the CDG Information Technology Department.
The IT Department will also computerize the birth and death record of the past 15 years at a cost of Rs20 million. It will also develop a software for office-automation and linking different CDG offices through a computer network.
The projects were approved at a meeting held with DCO Khalid Sultan in the chair. The committee was informed that the federal government would provide a 75 per cent subsidy for the execution of the projects.
COMMUNITY CENTRE: The CDG has also decided to establish a community centre for women at Salamatpura at a cost of Rs4.8 million. The centre will comprise a maternity and child centre, a daycare centre for children and computer literacy and skill development training centres.
