PML-Q man moves LHC against rival

GUJRANWALA, Sept 2: The PML-Q’s candidate for Kamoki tehsil Nazim’s slot, Sajjad Ahmad, on Tuesday moved the Lahore High Court against the ruling party other group’s nominee Rana Muhammad Asif, accusing him of being a bank defaulter.

He also alleged that Rana Asif, who has been fielded by prime minister’s political adviser Rana Nazir Ahmad Khan, had not resigned from the post of UC Nazim to contest the election.

He appealed to the High Court to reject the nomination of his rival. The High Court has summoned both the parties for Thursday (tomorrow) for hearing.

It is learnt that Sajjad Ahmad Khan had moved the RO, an additional sessions judge, against his rival, but the latter rejected his plea.

anti-obscenity drive: The district administration and police will conduct raids at theatres and cinema houses to eliminate obscenity, District and Sessions judge Riazul Hassan Alvi said here on Tuesday.

At a meeting, he warned the theatre owners, play producers, directors and artists to avoid spreading obscenity, otherwise, strict action would be taken against them. He directed all the judicial magistrates to conduct raids in company with police at theatres and cinemas, which had been violating code of ethics.
