KARACHI: Businessmen Group Chairman Siraj Kassam Teli on Tuesday slammed the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for not taking any action against the 700,000 tax evaders.

Speaking at the 53rd annual general meeting of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Teli said that the tax evaders were using credit cards and frequently flying abroad but not paying any taxes.

He said Karachi’s business community, which contributes over 68 per cent revenue to the national exchequer, would not tolerate FBR’s unjust taxation policies.

“If the tax authorities fail to redress the grievances of the business community, they will have no other option but to stage sit-ins in Karachi to seek justice,” he warned.

He further urged the newly elected office bearers of the KCCI to focus on resolving the taxation issues.
