‘Prof Imran’

THIS refers to the letter ‘Prof Imran’ (Sept 24) by Dr Mahnaz Fatima. This could be a coincidence but I told my class at IBA a few days ago that if we were to fix just three areas of the government, we will be able to fix the whole country.

The three areas are (1) Education: by attracting the best students by raising salaries to the level of the best paymasters in the country so that the cream of the class starts teaching rather than joining multinationals. In 10 years we will see a marked difference in the quality of students coming out of educational institutions.

(2) Police: hire the best police force and pay them well so that they don’t divert their energies towards other sources of income. It will improve the law and order situation.

(3) Judiciary: upgrade the quality of judges by giving them extremely good packages so that they have no need to do anything other than providing justice. All of these measures with specific accountability will improve the quality of life of the common man. The rest will fall in place all by itself.
