LANDI KOTAL/GHALANAI: Four commanders of outlawed militant outfits were killed in the August 14 operation by security forces in Khyber agency, the political agent of Khyber agency said here on Friday.

Addressing a news conference at the Khyber House here, the political agent said the slain commanders, including Jamail alias Jangrez, Shahidullah and Shahid alias Balagay of TTP Gedar Group and Rasheed of Lashkar-i-Islam were identified by DNA tests.Accompanied by assistant political agent, Bara Nasir Khan and police bosses, he said the militant commanders were killed in the August 14 search operation of security forces.

He said the militants were wanted for attacks on security forces, acts of militancy, kidnappings for ransom, targeted killings, extortion and other crimes.

The political agent said 68 FIRs were registered against the slain commanders in various police stations of Peshawar and FR Peshawar and that the government had announced the Rs14 million head money for them.

He said bodies were handed over to the militants’ relatives.

The political agent said the operation to clear Bara from militants would continue.

He said the operation had helped the government restore peace and its writ in the tribal region.

The political agent said schools had reopened in all areas, where the government writ had been restored.

TWO PEACE BODY MEMBERS KILLED: Two members of a local anti-Taliban peace committee were killed and one was injured in the explosion of an improvised explosive device in Dawezai area of Pindyali tehsil in Mohmand Agency.

The IED planted by the roadside was detonated by remote control.

The blast occurred when the peace committee members were passing by the IED.After the blast, the security forces showed up, cordoned off the area and began a search operation.– Dawn Report
