BOSTON (Massachusetts), Sept 1: Adam Scott didn’t shoot another course record, but the Australian still added to his lead on Sunday in the PGA Tour event at the TPC of Boston.

Scott shot a four-under-par 67, one day after firing a course-record 62, to open a three-stroke lead over Jonathan Kaye.

Like first-round leader and good friend Justin Rose, Scott is playing on a sponsor’s exemption. He has made the most of it this weekend and is 15-under-par 198 entering Monday’s final round.

Kaye has remained in contention with a 63 today while Darren Clarke of Northern Ireland (67), Geoff Ogilvy (68) and Rose (68) are four shots back at 202.

Scott is making his 34th career PGA start, including his 12th this season. The only non-member to come win this year on the PGA Tour was Clarke, who won the NEC Invitational last weekend.

Scott eagled the par-five second hole and added birdies on six, seven, 10 and 18. His only bogeys came on 11 and 13.

The last player to win on the PGA Tour as a sponsor exemption was David Gossett in 2001. One person to accomplish the feat was Tiger Woods at the 1996 Las Vegas Invitational.

Woods shot a 67 on Sunday and is eight strokes behind, but has not conceded defeat.

Vijay Singh of Fiji stumbled to a 71 on Sunday and is six shots off the pace.

The tournament is is the only event on the PGA Tour this season that is scheduled to end on a Monday, the US Labour Day holiday.
