Published September 2, 2003

LAHORE, Sept 1: Medium-pacer Yasir Ali, who has been picked up in the 15-man squad announced for the third and final Test against Bangladesh is physically unfit.

It was learnt the bowler, who recently toured South Africa with the Pakistan Academy team, was suffering from a heel injury.

Asked to confirm the fitness problem of Yasir, the chief selector Aamir Sohail admitted that the bowler had some problem with his heel but it was not so serious.

Asked why Yasir was preferred over pacer Abdur Rauf who was the most successful bowler during the South African tour, Aamir said that all players would be given a chance.

Yasir claimed six wickets each in the two four-dayer and three One-day matches while Abdur Rauf claimed eight wickets in the two four-dayer.
