Jahangir and Riaz star for Under-19

COLOMBO, Sept 1: Fine performances by Riaz Afridi and Jahangir Mirza earned Pakistan emphatic six-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the Under-19 one-day match at the P. Saravanamuttu Stadium on Sunday.

The accomplishment of the two players which earned them joint Man of the Match award gave the touring side four-nil lead in the five-match series between the two junior teams.

Peshawar-born medium pacer Riaz Afridi finished with four for 23 after the home side was put into bat and then Lahore’s Jahangir Mirza cracked unbeaten 89 as the tourists overhauled winning target of 162 from 45 overs after Duckworth and Lewis method was applied when rain curtailed play.

Sri Lanka were dismissed in 49.1 overs for 183 with J.K.Silva (42) and M.F.Maharoof (37) were the major contributors Riaz extracted lot of help from a seaming pitch and received fine support from fellow seamer Shahid Yousaf who claimed three for 31.
