Pakistan are participating in the ongoing 17th Asian Games 2014 being held in the South Korean city of Incheon.

So far, Pakistan have managed to secure one bronze medal in the 70kg Wushu event, which was won by Maratab Ali after he lost his semi-final bouth to Chinese opponent, Kun Zhang.

Hockey


Defending champion Pakistan beat arch-rivals India 2-1 in the Asian Games hockey event at Munhak Hockey Stadium today.

The crucial encounter decided the fate of the group as the win lifted Pakistan to the top of the pool.

Pakistan is so far looking strong having earlier won two opening leagues. While there were some problems against China in the first two quarters, the team delivered sparkling performance in the last 20-minutes.

Shooting


Veteran Pakistani marksman Ayaz Tahir finished 38th in 50-M Rifle Prone shooting event of 17th Asian Games at Ongnyeon International Shooting Range on Thursday.

Ayaz, who has represented Pakistan in several Asian Games, and had won a bronze in the Machester Commonwealth Games in 2006, mustered the total of 609.2 points in seven rounds in the pack of 52-shooter.

Cricket


Pakistan women cricket team hammered minnows China by nine wickets to cruise into the finals. 27-year-old Off-break bowler Nida Dar from Gujranwala, finished with an excellent figures of four wickets for seven runs in three overs, and Bismah Maroof claimed two wickets for eight runs in two overs as inserted to bat first, Chinese team crashed to 37 all out in 19 overs.

Pakistan registered their first win in baseball event of XVII Asian Games when they routed Mongolia 25-0 in their second league round.

After a slow start Pakistan dominated match by winning four innings at trot.

Reigning team champion Pakistan notched-up their second win in squash competition of 17th Asian Games when they beat South Korean 3-0 in their second round match.

Tennis


Pakistan had a disappointing day in the tennis events of Asian Games after their top players Aqeel Khan and Muhammad Abid both crashed out from the singles and doubles events.

Country's ranking Aqeel was given a rough and tough time by Lu Yen Shun of Chinese Taipei before racing to 6-0, 6-1 victory in the second round of the singles event here at Yeonhaui tennis hard courts.
