Councillor shot dead

SHEIKHUPURA, Sept 1: A general councillor was assassinated by two unidentified persons at Talib Park here early Monday morning.

Rana Sajjad Husain, 35, was asleep when somebody knocked at the door. As he opened the door, two men opened indiscriminate fire killing him instantly.The body was handed over to the family after the post-mortem examination.

APPLICANTS: As many as 5,600 people have applied for 60 posts of police constables in the Sheikhupura district.

Talking to this correspondent here on Monday, the district police officer, Nawaz Warraich, said the recruitment would be made strictly on merit and no body would be favoured.
