Strike against killings observed

FAISALABAD, Sept 1: A complete strike was observed in the city and its adjoining areas on Monday in protest against the killing of four people in a dacoity incident.

All shops in Kutchery Bazaar, Jhang Bazaar, Karkhana Bazaar, Montgomery Bazaar, Rail Bazaar, Chiniot Bazaar, Aminpur Bazaar, Bhawana Bazaar, Yarn Market, Jamia Cloth Market, Makki Cloth Market, Grocery Market, Fish Market, Gole Bazaar, Medicine Market, Press Market, Skin Market, Narwala Road, Circular Road, Railway Road and Dijkot Road remained closed throughout the day.

The commercial areas of Satiana Road, Samanabad, D-Grounds People’s Colony, Rex City, Samundri Road, Samanabad, Gulistan Colony and Ghulam Muhammadabad also observed a complete strike. Money changers and currency dealers put their shutters down to mourn the killing of prize bond dealers and their guards.

A protest meeting attended by 24 office bearers of trade bodies condemned the incident and urged the police to arrest the accused at the earliest.Both the deceased were laid to rest at the Nazimabad graveyard.
