Anti-polio drive starts in Pindi today

ISLAMABAD, Sept 1: Rawalpindi District Nazim Raja Tariq Kiani has reiterated the government’s commitment to eradicate polio from the district.The district Nazim was speaking at a function here on Monday.

On the occasion, the World Health Organization (WHO) representative, Dr Khalif Bile Mohammad, appreciated the efforts made the health ministry, which was giving top priority to child health.

PPI ADDS: The three-day anti-polio drive will be launched in Rawalpindi on Tuesday for which all the arrangements have been finalized.

This was stated by the district Nazim, Tariq Kiani, while talking to this agency on Monday.

The Nazim said over 560,000 children below the age of five would be vaccinated during the campaign. About 1,000 mobile teams have been formed that will administer anti-polio vaccine to children on the doorstep, he added.

He said polio vaccination centres had also been established at public parks, railway stations and bus terminals.
