HYDERABAD, Sept 1: A contempt of court application was filed before the Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit bench, on Monday against building control director Masood Ahmad Jamali, deputy director Imran Hassan and Attaur Rehman for violating a high court order regarding removal of encroachments.

Maula Bux filed the application, saying according to the court order passed on May 28, encroachments in a lane were to be removed in three months and a compliance report was to be submitted before the court.

He said private respondent Attaur Rehman had encroached on a major portion of the lane in Resham Gali, thereby blocking the entrance and exit points of streets.

The petitioner said when he approached the building control deputy director he got infuriated and threatened him with dire consequences and to cancel the recently approved plan of his house.

He said the respondents were liable to action under the Contempt of Court Act as they had not complied with the court order despite the lapse of three months.

Mr Bux said the Hyderabad Building Control Authority had also issued notices to the private respondent after he encroached on the public lane.

He prayed the court to direct the respondents to demolish the illegal construction.

He further said respondent officials should file complaint against the private respondent.
