LAHORE: The Opposition in the Punjab Assembly has demanded audit of the funds the provincial government had taken during the last six years for constructing barrages and dykes to save people from floods.
Opposition leader Mian Mahmoodur Rashid claimed the government had taken loans worth billions of rupees for various irrigation schemes and water management to help protect people from floodwaters but the funds were either misappropriated or used for other purposes.
He called for a proper audit of the loans in the wake of losses in the recent floods.
