KARACHI: Trade Development Authority of Pakistan Chief Executive S.M. Muneer has said that the four-day Expo Pakistan, which was to be held from Oct 22 at Expo Centre in Karachi, has been postponed for three months due to the sit-in in Islamabad.

Addressing the members of F.B. Area Association of Trade and Industry (FBATI) on Thursday, he said the sit-in in the capital had tarnished the country’s image abroad, according to FBATI’s press release.

The TDAP chief said the business community felt that the sit-in was causing economic losses to the country.

Muneer claimed that 90 per cent of commercial attaches in Pakistan embassies had already cautioned that foreign investors and traders were reluctant to visit Pakistan due to the sit-in and alarming law and order situation in Karachi, and if it persists it would hurt exports.

He said that TDAP had earned Rs35 million from Aalishan Pakistan Lifestyle Exhibition held in New Delhi. Over 1.5 million visited the exhibition where Indian buyers were seen making a beeline for Pakistani products, he added.
