‘Stomach democracy’

Published September 17, 2014

FOR the man in the street ‘democracy’ is a synonym for stomach. In future one may hear patients say, “ I have a terrible flatulence in my democracy” or “My democracy is aching”.

For some democracy means a mechanism which has been put in place for making public funds evaporate with lightning rapidity.

I heard a beggar outside a mosque saying aloud, “Almighty there is nothing you cannot do. The stomachs of our rulers are like bottomless wells. Equip these with bottoms.”
