Friday to be ‘Go Nawaz Go’ Day: Imran

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan announced on Tuesday that the upcoming Friday would be marked as ‘Go Nawaz Go’ Day and a 'Day of Deliverance'.

Speaking to the participants of the Azadi March, Khan said he would continue the protest movement till Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif resigns. He vowed that he would spend Eidul Azha protesting in the red zone.

“Today is the 34th day of the protest and there has been an increase in the participation of the masses,” he claimed.

Khan further said that he would burn his electricity bill on Friday to remind the rulers that they have doubled the power rates. His decision to do so comes after reports that the PTI Chairman had actually paid most of his bills since the civil disobedience movement was announced.

In the same speech, Imran alleged that PM Sharif was going to spend another 4 crore rupees on his US Trip.

“The Sharif brothers do not care for the masses. See the lifestyles of their children,” he said.

Imran also said that he would go to court tomorrow (Wednesday) to get arrested PTI workers released.

“The Constitution of Pakistan allows for peaceful protests. Why then have PTI workers been arrested?” he questioned.

“Police, which is supposed to assist the masses in getting justice, is instead working for the rulers and going against the law,” he claimed.

Imran Khan has issued so many ultimatums to NS to resign which he may not be remembering himself and nothing was achieved by him. If Imran has any self-respect left in him, he should call off this agitation in case Sharif does not resign by this Friday which he has called it as the day of deliverance.

@Last Word. On the contrary it is time to keep pressure on. Change is coming fast. Media thought earlier that Imran need face saving. However it is no longer relevant. Imran is definitely winner in this since he made his point across to masses. PTI is becoming much stronger party. If election held today it would definitely out number all other major political parties. Good job IK and PTI!

@Mani All those who want to keep the status quo have been exposed. The high point being the joint Parliament session and the performance of the so called "elected representatives" and the "senators". That is one of the things which this dharna has achieved. And the exposure goes on.

For those who oppose IK dharna whether mocking him on his U-turns, the civil disobedience movement etc. by saying this, you are implying that you are happy with NS government and the current state of affairs. I bet if he succeeds in getting resignation and getting the reforms done (I hope he does), there will be many of his opponents who will jump on the bandwagon in praising IK. It's human nature not to associate with someone who is perceived to be failing but in my books he is doing absolutely right - now or never else get ready to have Sharifs and Zardaris kids rule you for another generation. BTW: Did i hear that Bilawal is planning to run for MNA? Think!!

@Last Word You must appreciate the endurance of this Dharna. It is one of its kind in the our country's history that it has sustained for so long. We can see change coming to this country. The most recent incident on the PIA aircraft, two of Islamabad IGs refusal to obey the illegitimate orders of the rulers and the filing of the FIR against the sitting PM and CM is manifestation of the change in the offing.

IK and TUQ have certainly created awareness among the People about their rights and duties as well as their responsibilities to hold their elected representatives accountable. It is a giant step in the right direction. After reforms, the next elections are bound to be fair. A lot has been achieved in the last 30+ days. For now, Instead of demanding that the PM resign, PTI should be vigilant in the Parliament and pursue the process of accountability with help from the media and from the civil society. Dharna needs to be called off so life can return to normal for students, businessmen and workers

@Doesn No, they are not at all happy with NS. They don't want revolution. They want change with EVOLUTION which will ensure that Pakistan is not destabilised. They don't want Iraq, Syria to be replayed in Pakistan. IK has been proven wrong on taliban issue. Mind you it is the biggest issue of our country. All along he favoured them, was in favour of dialogue and so against military operation. He said that a huge backlash is going to engulf the country if army is sent to NWZ. Alhamdullilah, Thank Allah, he has been proven wrong and today because of army's operation he has been able to spend 34 days of dharna in red zone. So, whatever he says, we are not going to gulp that. Yes, system is corrupt, it is inept, it is inefficient and needs overhauling. Not in haste but with evolution.

After a month of surgical strikes of allegations and provocations now he has decided to go all out but what he can do other than pulling a crowd of few thousands on weekends.The IK-TQ cousins seems to be running short of ideas. I don't know what they are trying to achieve now because whatever they achieved through talks has gone down the drain. Now reforms, commissions etc will be meaningless. Back to square one.

@Doesn Opposing the dharma certainly doesn't necessarily mean supporting NS. It means standing up for democracy. IK has said so many times that the election was a fraud that he has started believing it. The election was just to be largely free and fair by international observers. Add to that a landslide for PML-N and there is no doubt left that he is the rightful prime minister. That should be that.

With every passing day, Imran Khan is proving to be more of an intellectual pygmy than his worst detractors ever thought him to be. He is now showing classical signs of a delusional maniac of the sort who take their followers to collective suicide. He still believes that people are after him even after being categorically rejected by the public on his calls of civil disobedience and street protests. He is now only a nuisance as a blackmailer who has got few hundred to few thousand persons, depending upon the day of the week, in Islamabad whom he wants to use as fodder for his scripted role to create anarchy making it a basis for change of government. His recent refrain again that only Imran Khan as prime minister can bring change smacks vulgarly and crudely of his power hungry rather than any principled position. Asking chief justice to intervene is part of the same script which has already been exposed by Javed Hashmi. Any sane voices left in PTI owe it to their salt to part ways from their leader who has shown himself incapable of meeting the hyperbolic promises he made during the run up to elections.

Every few years just when it looks as if the country has stabilized, there is a wobble. The latest one is quite serious. Nawaz Sharif will of course not resign. It would be unconstitutional to hand it over to either Imran Khan or Qadri since neither one of them hold an elective office. Nawaz Sharif, has asked the Pakistan Army to intercede. But the Army Chief sensibly refuses to take over the Government. Here is the solution and it is workable. Pakistan has Musharraf in the country and he is the only other person with some experience of running the country. Nawaz Sharif should resign and hand over the reins to Musharraf, who will be acceptable to the Pakistan Army, an important consideration. Musharraf as President may want to offer Imran Khan a cabinet post, since Imran is hankering for power; and Qadri can come back to Canada having achieved the fall of the Nawaz Sharif, his declared purpose. There will be stability in the country and two years down the road, Musharraf can arrange to have an election to bring back democracy to Pakistan.

@Jawad most of them are paid by Qadri and are quite happy to be here in Islamabad better than their own villages. The fact is that they too made a mess here and sooner or later they will be living the same mess as in the villages as they do not clean up behind them. They expect the Government to clean up for them. I question these people are they the once that will bring better Pakistan if they are happy living in rot while sitting around all day collecting their fee from the Qadri group and endangering our health of to of it .

Mr. Imran Khan has many important days at his option to overthrow Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and become Prime Minister. (1) August 14 Pakistan Independence Day - failed. (2) Eidul Adh-ha Day. (3) Yaum-e-Ashoora Day (4) Holy Prophet's Birthday (5) Shab-e-Meraaj Night. (6) Shab-e-Barat Night. (7) The enire month of Ramadan and specially Lailatul Qadr Night (8) Eidul Fitr Day. It seems it will be an endless struggle to replace Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and become Prime Minister. I think he will be satisfied if he gets the official title of "Prime Minister-in-waiting" and get a good send off.

One lives in a luxury container while IK lives in his 35 acre luxury villa at Banni Gala. The precedences being set by Imran Khan is going to lead to Pakistan on a fast downward spiral to becoming a truly failed state. I have no doubt that should the current govt be toppled through the mob rule IK will NOT be a winner for very long if at all. Tragedy is, these kids cheering the mobs will not own up their complicity in the destruction of Pakistan. The Naya Pakistan will be worse than the Purana Pakistan if the govt is toppled through the mob rule.

I believe that if Pakistani's do not stand up for themselves right now than I don't think they have any right to complain about anything wrong in Pakistan, than forgive me if I say that, they deserve it. What Imran has to lose, not much. If God forbid his political career is over, at least he did his part for Pakistan. He has done above and beyond what any human could have done for his country.Salute to him. And I know for sure that the Zardaris,Chaudhries,Sharifs, Ranas,Bhuttos,etc will InshaAllah end up like Saddams,Qaddafis,Mubaraks etc, Aameen. Zulm phir zulm hai barhta hai tu nit jaata hai.

@Itsqashi Dont feel sorry for IK. Feel sorry for Pakistani Nation, myself and yourself. IK is just another person and he has as much strength/power as you have, but real power is with people. If people didnt stand up for rights that's their problem not IK. I have hundreds of objections with IK, but onething i will give him is that he stood up against this corrupt system, whether with wrong intension or right, i dont know. Anyone (good or bad) standing for good cause, we all should stand by his good act. We as a country had a massive chance to come out in millions, probably we would have, but Govt did succeed in stopping us by fearing us. But then how long we will live like this? till the day we dont stand up for our brothers and sisters, nothing is going to come. Today someone else got killed, tomorrow it will be me or you. Today someone's daughter/sister got raped, tomorrow it could my or yours. For God sake and for your religion's sake save your religion and country for yourself and your next generation, stand against the cruel be it IK or someone else.

Imran Khan is doing for Pakistan what a generation of disillusioned Pakistanis have always wanted their leaders to do for them; i.e. fight for their rights, rid the country of the sham democracy that it encapsulates and give the power back to the people who make up the country. We owe IK a sea of gratitude for taking the courage to swim against the tide. We in the UK are with this sea of change.

Is today the Go Nawaz Go day? Is Nawaz Sharif gone? What will be the day after called if he actually go. This dharna is doing nothing but adding to the miseries of the majority Pakistanis especially the poor. How about Imran Khan going on a hunger strike first without yelling the rhetorics every day - let's see how many people are still with him then. There are three type of people still with him in these dharnas - first category are those who are there to enjoy the songs and dance (majority), second category are those people who are not generally happy with their current situations and are angry with everything around and they are lured by Imran's dream machine (second majority), third category are those people who are with him for selfish political motives (minority). Don't believe there is anyone who truly believes in the purpose of these dharnas, including Imran khan. Just and objective view from across the border - this whole stuff is insane. sorry for poking my nose into your internal matters.
